From a very young age, Jules Bouchard showed a strong interest in drawing. He quickly develops a natural tendency towards wildlife art. A self-taught artist, free to express his hymns to nature in a hyper-realistic style, he deems himself privileged to have been given this talent, a gift that allows him to paint wild animals in all their glory. For him, painting is truly the breath of life. “There are hundreds of fascinating subjects in nature, and I cannot imagine painting anything but wild animals and their habitats. It is my passion; each day is a blessing, an inspiration that urges me to create.”
Jules Bouchard has dedicated himself to painting since 1982. His works have been featured in several solo and group exhibits, both in Quebec and abroad. He has been awarded five gold medals by the Cercle des Artistes Peintres du Québec (1983-1987) as well as third place in All Categories in 1994. The distinguished Birds In Art jury chose one of his artwork for exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum, in Wisconsin (U.S.A.). At the museum’s request, he produced two drawings for its collection. In 2005, he was selected among 500 artists and won the prestigious Ducks Unlimited Canada stamp contest.
