André VAN MELLE

Born in Belgium, January 3rd, 1946. His grandfather, a professional artist trained in the Dutch Fine Arts school, fostered André's love of grand masters paintings.
He immigrated to Canada in 1979 with his spouse and two children.

While actively administrating a company, he has taken classes at the Mission Renaissance school of Fine Arts since 1994. Beyond drafting, charcoal, pastel, oil, portrait and nude, he also pursued classes in Art History, composition, Art Critic and iconography.

Very much attracted to the impressionist Grand Masters, André Van Melle developed a style rich in colors and dramatic light/dark effects. "This style allows for creativity, capturing the beauty of the subject, but remaining far from photography." Viewers develop a feeling of well-being and complicity in front of his paintings which are full of symbols representing Life, the Couple, Children, flowers and Nature.
His impressionist style was honored by many awards and art collectors around the world own his paintings.
